I had an exciting weekend and a few days ago and I’m going to make a post that may appear to be controversial. I went to London to meet some friends, and over dinner, in a public restaurant, I was earwigging some Internet marketers at the next table. This is in no way an offence to the company I was with. We were all marketers and/or coaches, so we were all sat there, ears flapping.
They were talking about a new product launch. Clearly, they were a small cartel of three people who cross-promote each other. As I listened to them, I was amazed! They were living entirely in the past. Things are changing now, we are living in a world of very fast-paced global change. This changes in the air in everything politics, marketing, business and everything in between.
Donald Trump is making the biggest changes in America in the last 70 years. And still, we have these three Internet marketers who think that the old-style product launch is going to work in this new economy. It was quite typical in the past for marketers to build businesses on hype, scammy sales practices, dubious scarcity tactics and all similar hocus-pocus methods.
The problem with that is, your customers are just too smart for that now. It makes you wonder if these people even remember who their customers are?
Today’s smart savvy successful marketers know that they have to do engage and build relationships with their clients. Over the years I am sure you have heard people boast about 100,000+ email lists. Yet during this time I always remember listening to a lady I met about 10 years ago. She was in quilting. Quilting is a very small niche in terms of the big boys. However, what quilting has is passionate in fact irrationally passionate buyers. This lady had an email list of roundabout 120 people, and I remember her telling me that every time she sent an email, she made over a hundred sales!
Now that is definitely having a relationship with your list. A list of the hundred and 20 people who are fully engaged outsmarts a list of 10,000 disinterested people every day of the week.
Social Media Engagement
Today we all have to engage online and in particular use social media. If you can engage with your tribe on social media, you can spread your word 10 times faster on social media than any other social method. It’s not difficult.
You do your keyword research. You write a great blog post and then you send that post out to social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. Those three are just examples they are not necessarily the best three. I would definitely say start with five social media platforms and test the water and see which works best, both for your niche and your personality.
Just a year ago you may have just posted this to Facebook. Now you can upload your email list to Facebook to create a custom audience. Every time you create a new product, it’s out there your name in front of everyone. Retargeting ads is the future. I’m sure you’ll remember just a few years ago. We opened an advert for a new microphone. Just as we did that phone started ringing. By the time we answered it, it was time to go out, and we shut down our computer. That advert followed is around for weeks. I have to admit that used to be quite creepy, but we’ve all long since got used to that. Now we know that ads follow us around. At least they have stopped saying hey Catherine here is your new microphone, that was creepy! One day they’ll get the technology right that they realize you actually bought it on your phone and there’s no need to keep follow you around the Internet.
As I sat thinking about it I came to the present
There are a lot of people out there trying to engage with you. Every single day you open your inbox there is a plus story of people giving you proof that they make money online. They shower you with proof. Just because they’ve got a posh house doesn’t mean they can afford to eat! They may have a massive mortgage and/or credit card bills. Just because you can see it doesn’t mean it’s real. It may be a massive house which they may live in. Do they own it? Are they still paying for it? Are they paying the bills with a high-interest mortgage
This is the part where I’m going to start being controversial. Don’t listen to these people. Assume they are talking Crap they are talking absolute crap! That means me as well. How do you know I am earning a good living? Okay, I tell you and also if you listen to Sarah Starr’s webinars she will substantiate that. I am one of our highest earning affiliates. Does that mean I know what I’m talking about?

why am Why Am I doing this?
